James and Aimee Rainwater

Pastor Rainwater leads our team and staff at Bethany Church and enjoys teaching Scripture for life-change, training and equipping leaders, and leading a church with the faith to ask God for big things.

"I did not grow up in an active Christian home," James says. "This has marked me with a deep appreciation of the Lord's power to transform lives and families. When Jesus steps in, nothing should be the same."

Having been born and raised in Arkansas, James has spent a combined twenty-one years in pastoral ministry in Oklahoma. He received his Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.

James' wife Aimee, is a 3rd grade teacher in Thomas and also serves in children's ministries at Bethany Church. They have three children, Charish, Caleb and Noah.

Michael Wheelis

Mike has been involved with youth ministry for over fifteen years.  He has been involved with various church and parachurch ministry positions during that time like Club Beyond, Young Life, a teacher, a youth treatment center and a couple foster care groups.

Mike was born in Midland, Texas where he grew up you in Christian home and was involved in church when he was young. His family was in the oil business and caused him to move several times as a youth, Midland, Oklahoma City, Houston, and Colorado Springs/ Denver. Mike really started taking his faith seriously after a Young Life summer camp trip where he heard the life changing message of the Gospel in a new way. This was when God laid it on his heart to go into ministry. Mike has been blessed to get to share the Gospel in many different places, including the American Army Post in Baumholder, Germany.

It is Mike’s hope to see the youth and their families grow and take the next steps in their faith together.
